Behind the Brand

So glad you found my little corner on the internet! I am the creator behind Blackberry & CloverStudios. I was born and raised in North Georgia where my mom instilled a love of crafting at an early age. I tried it all! Beaded animals, loom knitting and beaded weaving, friendship bracelets, sewing, cross stitch, machine embroidery and yes hand embroidery too. As I got older, I started exploring the fine arts more and really grew to love painting as well.

I grew up loving nature by visiting many national parks, exploring the depths of the ocean through scuba diving (which honestly terrifies but also makes me feel empowered at the same time), and having my fair share of furry and feathered friends throughout the years. I currently reside in the sunshine state and exploring the beautiful springs and beaches with my boyfriend and our fur babies, Coosa and Clover, is one of my favorite things to do. Nothing inspires me more than nature! So flora and fauna, especially the natural scenery in our beautiful state, is my biggest inspiration behind my art and designs.

This past year was by far the most challenging year I have ever had. I lost my first fur baby as an adult, Cairo, as well as my sweet Papaw. This alone was hard enough but my boyfriend's cancer diagnosis was certainly the most unexpected hardship we have ever had to face. Having to put life on pause, and become a caregiver overnight, quite literally sweeps you off your feet (and not in a good way).

I was re-inspired to pick up hand embroidery, sewing, and painting again as a way to keep both my mind and hands busy (especially during long hospital days). I needed creative outlets that allowed me to decompress, shut the noise off, and create time and space just for me. Getting lost in arts and crafts is my solace.

Blackberry & Clover Studios was created as a space to share and document this experience of crafting as a form of self care and finding myself again through creative expression. I believe creating anything with your hands is art and art is therapy. I want to inspire others to participate in the positive mindfulness that comes through the joy and play of creating. Hand embroidery is the main focus of Blackberry & Clover Studios, and I invite you to join in, learn, and get lost in the threads of artistic expression.
