I don't know how hot it is wherever you are but things have been heating up here in Florida for the past several weeks 🥵 Many of our days have been well into the 90's and looks like that will continue for the foreseeable future.

June doesn't scream summertime to me though, even though it feels like summer, June is still soft. It is the transition to summer waking up. So to me, bold and vibrant is not the vibe for June's color scheme. I do think it should be bright and cheery but still a little muted and subdued.

For this month's color scheme, I am using a beach shell image for color inspiration. There is a softness and almost pastel vibe but still enough brightness to feel the warmth and invitation of the rapidly approaching summer.

I love the pinks, purples and blue greens you see in the shells. Adding in some richer deep purples, blue greens and neutral or two will round out the palette. I use a color picker to select the colors I want to thread match and then use the RGB values to find the closest thread color to that color value.  Below you can see the colors I selected from this image and the playful color palette it created. It is still bright and beachy, but with enough dilution to be a great transition from spring to summer.

I played around with the color selector until I got a grouping of colors I was happy with. I like to create a palette with 8 colors because I feel like it is a good number to give a nice color balance and not be too overwhelming. I use https://threadcolors.com/ to find the threads that best match the RGB value. The three numbers on the left are the RGB values, then you see the name of the color and coordinating DMC thread number (how you would find it in the store), and then an image of that thread color. They might not be a perfect match, but I think it is pretty darn close and a beautiful color palette nonetheless!

To me it is very much giving mermaid vibes! If you give this palette a try, send me a photo of what you create as I would love to see it 🤗
